PANAMA Is The Coolest Place

Hola Familia! I finally made it into Panama along with like 25 other Elders! 20 of us were on the same flight to Atlanta and we met up with 5 more Elders for the flight to Panama city. So far it has been so good. It is crazy beautiful here. All the missionaries are from Utah and are dying in the humidity, but I am absolutely loving it. Tonight we are all staying in a hotel in the city, and we will meet our trainers tomorrow, and travel to our area. I will soon find out where I am going. We all walked with the zone leaders to get migration photos then we walked to the chapel building which is also the mission office which is where I am writing this email. I already met with the President, and he is super awesome. Life is good here in Panama, and I can't wait to get to work!! I love you family, Elder Felt

This is it. My last week in the MTC, and I can’t believe it. I didn’t think that I would ever get into the field with all these zoom meetings.  But here I am halfway through week 6/6! This week has been really good because we have been focusing on transitioning to the field. I am extremely thankful that I get to go to my actual assignment and live my dream ever since I was a little kid. Yesterday I finally received my flight itinerary. I leave this Monday at midnight! I’m flying from SLC and have a 4-hour layover in Atlanta, Georgia. From there, I fly to Panama City, Panama!! So it’ll be a total of 12 hours traveling all night and morning. It’ll be a long night but I’m so stoked. To be honest I’m gonna miss being a missionary in Utah and feeling like a superhero. I remember always looking up to Elders who served in my home ward growing up. I always thought they were so cool, and I wanted to be just like them. It’s crazy that I’m a missionary now with kids looking up to me. Everywhe...

WEEK 4 IN THE MTC

Image
Bienvenidos to my week 4 email!  I leave for the field in a little under 2 weeks, and I am stoked. I can't wait to go out and serve everyday. I know it'll be hard, but I'm excited to tackle this challenge and have the best 2 years of life. This week, my comp and I had a few experiences with talking to random hispanic people from Mexico in our own breakout rooms on zoom, and it was really fun. I can understand what my teachers are saying most of the time because they talk slowly, but I barely understood these people that Elder Peterson and I were teaching. Even though it was hard to communicate well with them, I still enjoyed every moment. They were super nice people, and they were really funny. It's the best feeling when I actually have a small conversation with them because I know what they are saying. What time I found out that this lady liked playing basketball so I was like "sweet let's go, I can talk about this." I asked her what her favorite team was...

HALFWAY THERE

Buenas tardes amigos y familia, ¡Hola a todos! Right now I am about halfway through week 4, so I am more than halfway done with the MTC. It's going a lot faster now, which is super nice. I'm enjoying it so much and I'm learning heaps,  but zoom meetings all day can be pretty hard. This past week has been the best so far. My sister Emily flew up for the weekend so 4/5 of the siblings were together again for one last time... life is always good with the family, and I'm going to miss them SO MUCH once I am in the field. This week went really well in terms of learning the language. We had a bunch of lessons over grammar, which was nice especially because the teachers never really taught us any grammar the first few weeks. They kinda just had us hit the ground running, and we had no idea what they were saying. For the rest of the week, we have a bunch of teaching investigator role plays, so it'll be interesting to see how that will go with my companion(hopefully they go ...

Week 3!!

Hola familia y amigos!     I'm about halfway done with my 3rd week here in the CCM(Mexico MTC) which means that I'll be halfway through after this week! Every week seems to go by faster and faster so you can probably guess that I'm loving every moment of it, and I really am. The biggest reason for that is that I'm getting closer with my district every day. It's super fun learning together and even learning from each other during class. I love them all so much, and I hope I can meet them in person someday, especially my companion, Elder Peterson. Most of them have been given stateside re-assignments, so I'm really hoping that it doesn't happen to me and that I get to fly out to Panama at the end of this month. I wish I could be there right now! But whatever happens, I know that I have to put my trust in the Lord because he surely knows what he's doing.      I loved this week so much because we studied a lot about faith in our Heavenly Father and his son J...
