El Templo De Panamá

Image
What a week! We saw the hand of the Lord every single day. A convert of mine and Elder Medina from David, Chiriquí, who was baptized a year ago, received his endowments on Saturday! Elder Martínez and I had the privilege to enter the temple with him and his wife! They traveled from the completely other side of Panamá, all night long (8 hours), to arrive early Saturday morning. Franklin is one of my biggest examples, and I admire his love for the Lord, his family, and the faith, determination, and endurance that he has. He is already a strong and faithful leader of the church! I can't express how thankful and blessed I am for the opportunity I had to see him one last time before I return home and see him take the next spiritual step in the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ as he progresses on the covenant path. I love the temple and the peaceful spirit I feel when I'm inside. In December, Franklin, his wife Gladys, and their daughters will be sealed in the temple for time and eter...

Panamá Beats The US

Image
Panamá beat the US in soccer, so everyone was going crazy—partying and drinking. We had a bunch of contacts with hombres borrachos in the streets. You know when a man's drunk when they start speaking to us in English, haha. Despite all the hombres borrachos and unmarried couples that we are teaching, the work is moving forward, and many miracles are happening here in Panamá! The Lord is certainly providing, and we are excited to see the fruits of our labors as we continue to work diligently in His Vineyard. Angel and Daniel, who are the younger brothers of Leo (who is now reactivating), came to church yesterday. They are set for baptism on the 29th of July. Here's a quote that I really like from a devotional I listened to from Elder and Sister Oaks: "Heavenly Father is more interested in our growth as a Disciple of Jesus Christ than He is in o...

I'm Proud To Be An American

Image
These past few weeks with Elder Martínez have been a total blast! As we go about serving the Lord and getting to know the people and area together, we are seeing many miracles. Here are the highlights of the week: For the 4th of July, we taught Elder Martínez how to celebrate America's birthday by playing real football for our morning exercise and cooking up hamburgers! Elder Martínez and I took the dub, thanks to his game-winning touchdown! It was legendary. We found a less active member while we were contacting in the streets one morning. We quickly found out why he's inactive. He asked us to help him understand why "Mormons" believe in two Gods when there's only one God. He said, "Solo hay un Dios, ¿verdad? Y si solo hay un Dios, ¿entonces por qué tenemos a Jesucristo y Joseph Smith?" (There's only 1 God, right? And so if there's only 1 God, why do we have Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith?). I couldn't stop myself from laughing a little bit. ...
