Week 3!!
Hola familia y amigos!
I'm about halfway done with my 3rd week here in the CCM(Mexico MTC) which means that I'll be halfway through after this week! Every week seems to go by faster and faster so you can probably guess that I'm loving every moment of it, and I really am. The biggest reason for that is that I'm getting closer with my district every day. It's super fun learning together and even learning from each other during class. I love them all so much, and I hope I can meet them in person someday, especially my companion, Elder Peterson. Most of them have been given stateside re-assignments, so I'm really hoping that it doesn't happen to me and that I get to fly out to Panama at the end of this month. I wish I could be there right now! But whatever happens, I know that I have to put my trust in the Lord because he surely knows what he's doing.
I loved this week so much because we studied a lot about faith in our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. One of our assignments this week was to think of a question and pray about it, and to try and find our answer in the scriptures or any tools that we have. My question was "Cómo podemos ganar la fe en Cristo?" In english, it says "How can we gain faith in Christ?" As I studied in Preach my Gospel, I found my answer. It says "We can develop faith in Christ through humility and doing His will and keeping his commandments." Faith leads to action and faith is a principle of power. In order for us to gain faith in Jesus Christ, we must act first with power. God works by power and that power is an implement to our faith. Knowing this, I have gained confidence when I am speaking Spanish. I know that all I have to do is open my mouth(act) and the spirit will help guide me to know what to say. My favorite scripture from this week was 1 Nephi 7:12. It says "Yea, and how is it that ye have forgotten that the Lord is able to do all things according to his will, for the children of men, if it so be that they exercise faith in him? Wherefore, let us be faithful to him." For us to have faith in Him and to grow our faith, all we need to do is read the scriptures and pray every day, obey his commandments, and serve. Our faith will only grow stronger and stronger as we do these things especially when the Lord works his miracles through our power of action.
Los amo a todo ustedes y estoy muy agradecido por ustedes.
Love,
Elder Felt
