Guna Yala Revolution

Hey everyone, Nuegambi! It has been an unforgettable 2 weeks filled with crazy experiences in the islands of Panama.

This week was a slow one because the Guna people were celebrating the Guna Yala Revolution which was on February 25th, 1925 when the Gunas rebelled and tried to fight for Independence from Panama. So because of that, we weren't able to find much success teaching as everyone was partying it up. And they did a bunch of acts & plays on the volleyball court to reenact what happened 98 years ago with the Panama Government. The entire village was there as well as other people that came from other villages and islands. The celebration went on all week until Saturday afternoon when we walked to Ukupa with all of the faithful members to avoid chicha fuerte(alcohol that they make). They believe that God told them to. Escaping Irgandi and going to Ukupa(the church is stronger in Ukupa) with the members felt like the Pioneer Trek haha. It was a special moment.

When we got to Ukupa we had the baptism of Dinibler! And the next day he was confirmed a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by our Branch President after we taught him how to do a confirmation. It was awesome.

Other cool experiences and milagros:

-Helped push boats to shore while battling the waves

-Ate pig with all of the Gunas to celebrate their big week with them

-Taught our branch president how to use a computer and put in church assistance

-Held a 2 hour church meeting! Before we just had 1 hour but now we are trying to get Sunday School started. Yesterday, Elder Roylance and I taught the kids and jovenes outside while our branch president and his counselor taught the adults!

-Serving in the jungle

-Saw an alligator!

-Finding a family of 4 who aren't members and want to get baptized!

-Doing FHEs and teaching the Gunas how to play "Uno." They love it hahaha

-¡Tengo una sobrinita! Congrats Emily and Brandon!

I love being a missionary and representing Jesus Christ. No hay nada que me traiga más alegría. I am living the dream!

" Wherefore, astand ye in holy places, and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come; for behold, it cometh bquickly, saith the Lord. Amen." Doctrine & Covenants 87: 8

Love you all,

Elder Felt
