Protein Pancakes & Spaghetti Sandwiches
Hey everyone, I hope all is well! What a crazy 2 weeks it has been out here in Guna Yala! They have been filled with some of the most incredible experiences of my entire mission.
Before I share some of these experiences, I'll explain the title. Out here, our food is very limited because we basically just bring canned food from the mainland that lasts us a couple months. So it gets pretty repetitive eating spaghetti or rice every day haha. Although this week we got creative and made protein pancakes and spaghetti sandwiches! They were super good. Game changer.
These past weeks, we have seen miracles on top of miracles in the 2 branches that we are serving in. And I have had some of the most spiritual experiences this past week where I felt the spirit so strong. Recently, we have been teaching a couple of kids who are ready for baptism but their parents are inactive. We have been visiting the fathers a lot lately to pump them up to baptize their child. There have been a few powerful lessons where we strongly bore testimony of the restored gospel and how it truly blesses the lives of families. We have been doing all we can to get them to church and worthy enough to perform the ordinance.
We know that if we do our part diligently and faithfully, the Lord will certainly do His part and provide. With that being said, we saw a huge miracle with one of the men. His name is Josue and he accepted our invitation to baptize his little boy at the end of this month! They are both super stoked.
On Saturday, we had a little conference on Playon Chico which is the closest island to us. The mission president, his wife, a few leaders from Panama City, and an Area 70 came! His name is Elder Pineda and he's from Guatemala. Our branches were invited! We took 2 boats to carry the members there and about 20 from each branch came. It was awesome. Seeing 2 boats full of happy members excited to hear the words of a church leader was way cool to see. We were joyous. The hard work that we put in visiting them and pumping them up about the conference paid off big time. Elder Pineda talked about la senda de los convenios(the covenant path) and the eternal blessings that come if we keep our covenants and live the Gospel. He explained it all very simply so that the guna people could understand and they all loved it! It was an experience that I will never forget. Even the father and his son who is on date for baptism were able to be there for it! There is nothing better than seeing the members put in effort.
Oh man I love being a missionary and I love this Gospel. It is changing my life and it is changing me.
I love you all. Have a wonderful week!
