Painting Houses & Christmas Caroling
Heyyyy fam, how are you guys!!??
It's officially Christmas time over here in Panama. People finally have their lights up!! Honestly, it's a bit difficult to feel the Christmas spirit because it's blazing hot every single day haha and it's just simply so different here from the states. I sure do miss the cold. Although, it's summer time in Australia right now too so this isn't completely new to me. I was just a young one though. So I guess the main reason why it's hard to feel the Christmas spirit is because I'm far away from my family. Family is everything to me especially during this time of year. But I am so grateful for this Christmas experience in the mission because I am learning more and more about THE true purpose of Christmas. Growing up, I was more focused on friends, family, sports, presents, etc. So I wasn't all the way focused on the true reason on why we have Christmas. Nothing makes me happier than focusing on our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the powerful impact that he has in our life. We have Noche de Hogars pretty much every night with members and sometimes with our friends! It's the best. We watch the video about Christ's birth, and the spirit is stronger every time I watch it. I encourage you all to watch it if you haven't yet and to also share it with others. It's such a beautiful and powerful message. We have knowledge and joy because of Jesus Christ and his Atonement, so we gotta share and spread this light so others can too come unto Christ and feel the same joy that we feel!
This week was a good one. We did a few service projects, including painting a member's house that lives in the area of our District Leader, Elder Wutkee. It's also his Bday today, and we're trying to go bowling so hopefully we follow through with that.
On Wednesday, we had our 3rd lesson with a man named Roman. He lives in Puerto Camito which is the same area that a famous, retired baseball player lives. He grew up in Puerto Camito, and he played for the New York Yankees! So everybody here in El Progreso are huge Yankee fans haha. Anyways, we put Roman on a date to be baptized on January 1st! It was a miracle finding him because he lives in the total opposite direction as us. He's been ready to get baptized for years now honestly. When we met him, he already had a testimony that the Book of Mormon was true which is SO FREAKING COOL. He was teaching us about the stories in the book haha. Missionary Work is all about planting seeds, and it's so sick. My comp and I are just finishing the work of the missionaries that started before us.
On Saturday, we had Brestks Baptism! We had been teaching him since my 3rd week here, so was beyond ready. He's 12 years old and he is the most intelligent kid, so it makes me feel good when I do magic tricks with him, and he has no idea what's going on. Shout out to my brother, Michael, for hitting me up with a few good ones to use on kids.
Yesterday, we went Christmas Caroling with the district in the area of the Hermanas. It was way fun, and we're doing it again next Sunday. I gotta go but I'll drop some pics below for you guys.
I love you all and I am so thankful for your support. Keep the emails comin
