Chicken Feet And Fireworks

Holaaaaa fam, this week was crazy fun

The best part about this week is that we got to celebrate Thanksgiving!! For those that don't know, this is my favorite time of year but It's a bit different here, so it's not as easy to get excited about it. Being a missionary and doing the Lord's work is way fun though so it makes up for it. But yea, I love Thanksgiving because I love Family, friends, football, and food. Although there's no football or family here, we were able to have a ton of Thanksgiving food and the people that had us over are extremely nice. They just moved from Canada and they know perfectly English. There was also a white family that had just moved to Panama from Utah so it was nice being around people who speak English. I may not have been hanging with my family, but I felt like I was home in the states for a little bit. So we had dinner with 6 other elders in our zone, which was sweet. It's always a good time being with other missionaries. When we got to the house, the neighbors started shooting off fireworks so we were literally right under them, it was so sick.

This morning, we went on a hike at a National park about 30 minutes away. It was honestly super hard, but it was well worth it. The view was absolutely beautiful and I'll send some pictures.

This week, we mainly just focused on our friends who are progressing the most to get them ready for baptism. They're all super excited, it's the best seeing their happy faces and seeing how interested they are.

Oh yea and on Friday we had a lesson with one of our friends Jorge, his wife, and his son Octavio. We ended up being there for a while because he wanted to stay for dinner to celebrate his wife's birthday. He left for like 20 minutes and came back with chicken feet. He has chickens and little pigs roaming around the house and that's their food. So my comp and I just watched him cook these chicken feet and we ate it. It was definitely one of the most interesting experiences have ever had and I was pretty grossed out by it especially because those chickens were alive in the house just a couple of hours prior. But it was honestly pretty good, despite the weird texture.

Something that I have learned the most here in the field is the importance of service. Serving others brings me so much joy especially when I'm down because there are a lot of ups and downs in the mission. I encourage you all to find simple ways to make a person's day even if it's just saying hi to them. Small efforts lead to huge impacts. Remember that. Anyways, I don't have a ton of time today so I will drop some pictures to summarize my week and the hike this morning for you guys. Thanks for the emails, keep em comin!!

Love and miss you guys,

Elder Felt
